With a career spanning over 40 years, Arun Seth, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and IIM Calcutta, has worked in leadership positions in the BT, HCL, Usha Martin and the UB Group. More recently, he has focused on bringing the benefits of IT/Telecom to real world businesses in energy, health, fintech, medtech, education and hospitality via a vibrant innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem and a focus on giving back to society.
Beginning as the founding MD of British Telecom in India in 1995 he built it to its current leadership position in managed telecom services and outsourced IT and back-office operations. He left in 2012 as its non-Executive Chairman. He had helped acquire a significat stake in Airtel in 1996 was on its board till 2002. Had also helped incubate and grow Mahindra BT in mid 90’s into what now is Tech Mahindra and has been on its board for 17 years. He had been very active with Govt and Regulators on shaping Telecoms Policy and IT policy being an elected member of Nasscom for more than a decade.
Currently an independent Director on the board of Narayana Health, Jubilant Pharmova Ltd, and Jubilant Ingrevia Ltd. He is also on the board of private companies like Ixigo, Kent RO Ltd, Usha Breco Ltd, Sify Technologies Ltd, Tonetag.
Arun is as an active advisor to disruptive tech companies like global ad network Inmobi which he incubated in 2007 and became India’s first unicorn, Nutanix USA, Data management company Rubrik, Data Analytics leader ThoughtSpot, Vcinity, C2FO and IOT/Analytics leader Eco Energy and several health tech startups like Healthifyme, Healthcubed, etc.
He actively promotes the Software product and innovation ecosystem he co-chairs at the Nasscom Product Conclave especially interested in the deep tech club and has invested/mentored Qunu Labs in Quantum Security and NLP Voice tech company Voxomos Systems incubated out of the IIT’s. He had been on the Executive Council of Nasscom for 10 + years when in BT and Alcatel.
Arun is also an active angel investor last 20 + years having incubated companies like Avendus, InMobi, Tonetag, Ezetap, HealthifyMe, and newer Blockchain companies like Nucleus Vision and medtech companies like Alertgy, Mindwell Labs, etc.
He focuses on fostering entrepreneurship and had been involved with TiE Delhi Chapter when it was founded and currently a Charter member. Is active with the Indian Angel Network, is an advisor to The IAN Fund and has been part of angel funds and advises/mentors a number of start-ups in the tech space in India and USA.
Extremely active on NGO and Education boards, he is a trustee on DPS Ghaziabad Society. He is also a Governing Member of Helpage India Board, SPIC-MACAY, NCPEDP (Employment for Disabled people). He co-founded the Nudge Foundation and GiveIndia Foundation. Up until 2019, he was chairing the Nasscom Foundation which drives CSR initiatives across the IT Industry using tech for scaling good.
